Hints and tips before moving
| 1) Choosing a date : Try to avoid the beginnings and ends of months, the times when rent runs out, and the school holidays. |
2) Your new home : Tell us a bit about your new home : access for vehicles, internal staircases, what floor you're on... |
3) Special cases : Let the company know if your furniture includes items that need special treatment (Hi-Fi equipment or items of considerable value). For fragile equipment, see what the handbook or instructions say. |
4) Packaging : Warn us about any valuable or fragile items ; appropriate packaging will be provided. |
5) Declaration of value : In order to be sure of adequate insurance cover, make a declaration of the total value or your furniture. You should also make a list of any particularly valuable items. |
6) Parking : If there are any parking problems close to your new home, let the company know (narrow street, cul-de-sac, no parking). We will make appropriate arrangements with the local authorities. |
7) Keys : Be at the right place at the right time on removal day, or ensure that we have access at the agreek time. |
8) Putting everything in the right place : Tell us exactly where you want each item of furniture put A diagram will be very useful. |
10) Unpacking In your new home, tell the removal company workmen if there is an unpacking priority sequence to be followed. |
11) Jewellery etc Keep items of considerable value and jewellery on you. The removal company cannot take responsibility for the security of such items. |
12 ) Personal items : Also, keep the essential items that you'll need straight away with you : change of clothes, toilet items, pocket torch... |
13) Look behind you... As you are leaving your old home, check that there's nothing left behind in the cupboards, wardrobes, under the sink, in the cellar or the attic. |
14) Little problems : Children are not always ideal helpers on removal day. |
